Earlier this week, BD launched the SiteRite 9 ultrasound system (BD), designed to help clinicians improve efficiency when placing peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), central venous catheters, IV lines and other vascular access devices.
This new all-in-one system is designed with a more user-friendly experience in mind; the updated 15.6-inch touch screen provides industry-leading catheter placement technology and tools that can be used by clinicians to aid them when placing vascular access devices. Some of the tools included in this device are the Cue needle tracking system (BD), which provides nurses with real-time needle tracking, and the Sherlock 3CG+ tip confirmation system (BD) which ensures proper catheter tip location and navigation.
This new ultrasound device also uses technology that can help clinicians select the correct catheter for a patient, such as vessel assessment tools that can detect and pair vessels with relevant measurement tools, as well as patient data look up with information capture, record transfers and auto-filling capabilities, with the intention of supporting clinician workflow.
Commenting on the launch of this new device, Eric Borin, worldwide president of Medication Delivery Solutions at BD, said that “our latest innovation in ultrasound technology is designed to make vascular access care delivery easier and more efficient for clinicians—whether they’ve been on the job for years or are new to the field.” He added that “by combining our decades of leadership in vascular access with voice-of-the-customer enhancements, we’ve developed a best-in-class solution to aid in insertion success on the first attempt and reduce the need for repeated needlesticks to deliver a better care experience for everyone involved.”
